Embodied Scanning is the most universally-helpful practice that we have found for supporting movement toward a ventral vagal (Safe and Social) state. It is useful for shifting out of a defensive state (when feeling anxious, irritable, or overwhelmed), and it is also excellent as a daily practice that supports a greater felt sense of safety in the nervous system.
